My first Thunderbird add-on: Fixing RTL on chat

Lately I’ve upgraded my Thunderbird to version 15.0.1, this new version supports chat which is kinda nice.

One of the problems I had with this feature is that it doesn’t support RTL. So when I’ve written a message to a friend with both Hebrew and English the entire message was scrambled and was unreadable.

So, I’ve decided to write this add-on. This add-on checks if the message is RTL or LTR and adds RTE character when needed.

The extension can be foundĀ on Mozilla’s Gallery.

Not so long ago, A friend introduced me to Media Player Classic – Home Cinema, which is by all means a great player for windows.

The feature that did it for me, was the ability to download subtitles automatically for your video. Before, I was too lazy to try and figure out which subtitles fit, so most of the time I just watch the video without subtitles. But now, All I have to do is to click on a button and there they are!

I was looking for a player with the same feature on Mac, But couldn’t find one. So… I’ve made one.

This player is based on MPlayer OSx Extended and currently I’ve only added the OpenSubtitles API which allows downloading subtitles automatically.

The player still contains some bugs, And hopefully I will fix them in time.

You can found the player here: SheePlayer.

LIMSUP – Real time LaTeX collaboration

Today, I’ve released the first beta of LIMSUP – a online LaTeX editor supporting real time collaboration.

It’s the first version, so it is probably very buggy, hope you will let me know about bugs.

The idea led to the development of the product was the need to take notes during lectures. As most of you know, I’m taking notes during most of the lectures I’m attending using my computer and latex. The problem is, that sometime it is hard to follow, and sometimes different people have different insights.
So, using LIMSUP, several people can take notes together. One will be the lead writer and the others will fix mistakes and add remarks.

Hope you will find it as useful as I. And hopefully I will continue the development and documentation.
